Me as Sailor V Dragoncon 2011

This year at Dragoncon I debuted a Sailor V outfit. It was awesome, fun to wear, probably the most comfy of the outfits I brought this year. This was taken in the elevator bank on our floor of the Hyatt, right before me and the fiancee' went to march in the parade. They had redone the hotel... well, they are redoing the hotel.. so half of it looks like the Hyatt we know from many Dragoncons past, and half of it looks like a big red popcorny art deco mess.

I was proud of how this outfit turned out, though I had lost weight... again... in the month between making the skirt and wearing it at the con, and found myself with a slight issue where it slumped in the front and showed my bloomers at the top. *sigh* and here I was worried about it looking too tight across my ample hips and pouchy belly. Soooo I need to take in the skirt. Already.

I was very proud of the mask, which I made using the foam armor technique, and they just sorta snapped onto my red glasses frames at the corners. I didn't need clips or anything... they just stayed there. Couldn't have been more perfect, really.

The shoes were my least favorite part... I couldn't find accurate ones no matter how hard I looked, so I found myself with a choice between these flats, which at least had the correct toe, and hooker heels. I can't wear heels, I really can't. I have feet flatter than the plains, and heels are an agony. Soooo I went with the flats. I hope to eventually find the proper shoes. Surely some dancewear company SOMEWHERE has to sell the right shoes, a la Pretty Guardian Sailormoon.

Eventually I might get a wig as well, but dying my hair seemed to work great. Trying to fit a lot of hair under a wig is a tricky thing, and hot and itchy, too.
