The first piece I have done on my new laptop. I recieved a laptop for xmas designed around graphics programs, so it's mighty sweet.
This picture was done first by hand with pen and ink (just the figure) and then scanned in in two parts (due to it's original size) and pasted together. Then, using Corel Suite 10, and primarily Corel PhotoPaint, a background was added in 5 layers: Base color, shading, text, feathers, and black outline. Then I digitally painted the figure in 7 layers: Base color skin, skin shading, scars, blue highlighs, base color hair, hair shading, and hairtie. The topmost layer is the original black lineart with a transparency.
This is the first digital painting I have done, and I think I have done rather well. ^_^
The picture is of Cillara, a character of mine from my webcomic, Icarus in Shadow (www.terminusmedia.com) showing off her scars. The long ones on the shoulderblades are actually wing-marks, thus the feathers in the background.
typeing my reaction woul be futile coz you saw it thursday. love you constently amaze me you got the seal

Whee. I'm sorry it's taken me this long to comment on this. It looks really freakin' awesome, dear. Your color choices are impeccable, IMO, and your technique looks pretty good, too. The only nitpick I have is it looks like you resized it before you colored it, leaving some antialiasing that makes the coloring in the hair look a little off.
um.....
this would be the time when i point to the "first digital painting" part of my image comment and cry ignorance, really. I'd have to fiddle with Corel to see if I did.

As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
